Well, what can we say? This has been an encouraging weekend. Technically this update will also include some news we received on Monday, but it still counts.

We have not made any significant strides in the big picture, but God has been making Himself known in the details. To be honest, this is usually where He hangs out, and where we most often forget to look for Him. Allow me to share a few of the happening over the last few days and see if you agree.

The first event was a unsolicited email. I have included just of the text below. It is from gentleman that went to the same college as Kim and me. Oddly enough, we believe it was near the same time as well although we didn’t know each other. Here is what he had to say:

“…Recently we came across your blog about your adoption process. The reason that I am writing is to tell you how much your blog means to my wife and me. We have two children of our own now and are considering adopting. Its been really cool to read your experience with the process and please know that your family is in our prayers….”

I realize this isn’t much, but it is humbling to think that God is using this blog to encourage and prompt others. The second was a answer to a silly prayer (if there is such a thing). Kim had been walking through the yard thinking the logistics over for our Texas Chili Dinner and Auction. She asked God for some help in the plant department since we still haven’t managed to landscape anything back there. As He would have it, we get a call Sunday night from a church friends saying she had 10 year old hosta beds that needed to be thinned badly and our name kept coming to mind. If you call that a coincidence then please email me. We need to talk!

The other two items took place on Monday but I still count them. We received our first donation via this blog. It was truly a surprise and welcomed reminder that we have time and God has the resources. Despite the busyness of everything we know this will still take months and these reminders are needed and welcome.

The last item actually has some to do with future needs. Kim talked to one of our new found contacts in the Ukraine. He is a father of a friend and is currently back in the States. As it turns out his many years of service have been only 2.5 hours (according to Google maps) from our Grace. He is willing to help us find housing through his local church community if desired. We don’t know yet if we can commute that far (we are guessing not) but this gets us much closer to one of our big prayer requests. It is so encouraging to see the how Christ prepares and uses his body, the Church, for His purposes. Please continue to pray for local housing.

So, there you have it. God has been busy and we are celebrating a few of the details with Him. I have always heard, “the devil is in the details.” Well I am here to tell you that God has claims on that location too. If you have similar experiences let us know below.
